Hill, Farrer & Burrill LLP Overview

Our attorneys have successfully handled thousands of transactions and won thousands of cases. Hill Farrer lawyers are respected by the courts and our peers for our solid understanding of the law and aggressive advocacy for our clients. We have an outstanding track record. We are proud to have represented many of our clients for decades — through changes in management and ownership, from early-stage growth to mature expansion. Having Hill Farrer on your side tells your opponent you are prepared to take a dispute to trial and present a winning case.

We remain a one-office, California firm. The attorneys you start with stay with you throughout the process — continuity that translates into greater efficiency, deeper understanding of the issues and success after success for our clients. Our dedication to diversity begins with the law schools at which we recruit, and extends to the hiring of staff and the selection of qualified partners and firm managers to run the day-to-day affairs of the firm. We maintain a strong Equal Employment Policy and are proud of our long history of operating a law practice in which attorneys and staff feel welcomed and appreciated.

On July 1, 1923, Alferd J. Hill and Vincent B. Morgan, both 1909 graduates of the University of Southern California School of Law, set out to practice law under the name of Hill & Morgan. Hill had already established himself as a highly accomplished attorney, after serving 10 years as the first County Counsel for the County of Los Angeles; Morgan was widely recognized as a superlative eminent domain lawyer. Two years later, the firm became known as Hill, Morgan & Bledsoe. Benjamin F. Bledsoe had been the then-youngest judge to be appointed to the Superior Court of the State of California. In 1945, the firm added William M. Farrer, a prominent corporate lawyer, as name partner to become Hill, Morgan & Farrer.
